I have an old Murray Ridding mower with a 12 HP Briggs some how gas is in the oil? I noticed this when cutting high grass it started smokeing white so I shut it off and the oil was really thin and smelled like gas. I changed the oil someone told me the float will stick in the carb when the motor is under heavy load. He recommended cleaning the carb. What should I do next and how can I keep this from happening again.

does anyone know where I can find the original Proposition 6 by John Briggs from 1978, in its full original form?
Meaning, I have read tons of descriptions of the initiative, history and data of John Briggs, but I can’t seem to find the initiative in its full original form…
can anybody help me here?

Already have a “performance” spark plug. Wondering how to safely up the hp. The warranty is up, so I don’t care about voiding anything.

1973 Briggs & stratton 12hp. , screw on bottom of the bowl.

I would like to use it on a of road buggy. i weigh about 70 kgs and i am planning to build the frame using light weight high strength aluminium pipes.

I have it off, but I can’t figure out how to get the chipping blade off the drive shaft.

obviously i have a briggs 5horse flathead. well i would like to put it on a go-kart frame i have and sell it. how much power could i get from it? ive done a few mods already but i dont exactly know how much power i could get from it.

Briggs & Stratton magnetron engine will not start – will start with starter fluid – won’t keep running though. Replaced gas & spark plug, checked gas line…I think it must be something simple, but what? It’s just got a few years service on it.

The governor has already been replaced with a solid piece of wire, and it goes about 25mph I would say. I have heard mixed reviews about torque converters and that’s not going to make me buy one since they are so expensive. If you know of any other modifications I could do to it, that would be great.

i got a little briggs engine like a 2 or 2.5 horse that runs great cept the muffler gets really hot and glows in the dark. The head also gets really hot. any suggestions?
